How to Grow It! was played
Students would selected and planted a staple crop that produces many of the foods we currently enjoy.
Fun Facts about their chosen crop appeared on the screen while they cared for their seed or seedlings.
In Grow It ! students had choices that lacked right or wrong answers, however every choice had a consequence or outcome that was only revealed at a later stage.
Some of the Grow It!! choices included how much water to use and deciding whether or not a growth additive is included. At any point students could decide to conduct research prior to making a decision.
Not intended to replace great teaching Grow It! was intended to be a classroom tool adaptable to a variety of science and social science concepts.
Whitehouse Game Jam 2014
We developed an app for the White House Game Jam in 2014 called Grow It! geared for teachers and students to use in a classroom context of vibrant interactive discussion.
Aligned to several of the ELA informational reading standards for upper elementary grades, Grow It! guided students through open ended decision-making from Farm to Table.
